Dickinson Campaign Holds Press Conference on "Big Box" Issues/Wal-Martization

St. Paul, MN – Monday, August 22, 2005 – Elizabeth Dickinson will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, August 23, in front of Amore Coffee, 917 Grand Ave., to discuss the issue of "big box" encroachment on small businesses and the threat of Wal-Martization in the Twin Cities. She will examine ideas ranging from a proposed 50,000-square-foot limitation ordinance to the two-year big box construction moratorium currently under consideration in the St. Paul City Council, and will talk about the proposed CVS drugstore on Grand Ave. Dickinson, who co-produced a recent widely-distributed short documentary on Wal-Mart, will underscore her support of small business as both the generator of 75% of new American jobs, and the generator ofa vibrant city experience for both residents and visitors.
